
The Asociación de Industriales Químico-Farmacéuticos de El Salvador (INQUIFAR) presented its Informe Sectorial 2026, highlighting the sector’s performance in 2025, with an emphasis on its contribution to foreign trade and the strengthening of the national economy.
According to the data shared, the total export volume reached 28.3 million kilograms, consolidating the salvadoran pharmaceutical industry as a major player in international markets. Of the total exported, 97.8% consisted of pre-dosed medications, reflecting the high level of specialization in domestic production.

INQUIFAR also noted that member laboratories accounted for 59.2% of the sector’s exports, highlighting the importance of the organized industry within the country’s pharmaceutical foreign trade.
The association also highlighted the impact on employment, noting the creation of more than 6,150 direct specialized jobs related to production, quality control, research, and distribution.

During the presentation, INQUIFAR President Carmen Estela Pérez emphasized that the sector’s performance is taking place within a global context where health and productive capacity are becoming increasingly strategic, reinforcing the importance of the pharmaceutical industry in the country’s economic development.
The report concludes that the salvadoran pharmaceutical sector continues to strengthen its position as a reliable supplier in the region, with a direct impact on exports, employment, and productive innovation.
