Agromercados facilitate food purchases in Morazán and San Salvador

Written by Evelyn Alas

Salvadorans in different municipalities have the opportunity to buy food at fair prices in the agromarkets, organized by the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) with the support of other institutions of the Central Government.

In these spaces visitors can find everything, fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, basic grains, among others, to shop for the week and save the family budget, another of the initiatives implemented by the Central Government to protect the pocket of salvadorans.

During the weekend, dozens of shoppers had the option to visit the Plaza Cívica of San Francisco Gotera, departmental capital of Morazán, to take advantage of their shopping.

One of the attractions of the agromercado, in San Francisco Gotera, are the cartons of eggs, as several people take advantage of buying them, since they are at US$3.95. But there is also a variety of fruits, vegetables and other foods at good prices and without going very far.

In the municipality of San Marcos, in San Salvador, an agromarket was also installed, in front of the Municipal Palace, to serve the population that arrives from different neighborhoods. One of the benefits of these spaces is that people take the opportunity to buy directly from producers, thus saving the cost of intermediation.

Through the MAG, is promoting these initiatives to offer a variety of basic products to salvadoran families and thereby reduce the economic impact as a result of global inflation.
