Candidates for the election of the Executive President presented to CABEI's Board of Directors

In compliance with the established schedule, the firm Heidrick & Struggles, New York office, has submitted today, friday, october 13, 2023, the list of six pre-selected candidates for the position of Executive President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

 

 

This list is the result of a rigorous competition process carried out by this consulting firm, which has ensured transparency, due publicity of the competition and, above all, the suitability of the candidates to hold the position.

This list is made up of the following professionals in alphabetical order:

(1) Ana Guissella Sánchez Maroto, costa rican, industrial engineer. Her professional experience includes the positions of Regional Director of Strategy of BAC Costa Rica, Regional Director of Corporate Relations of Florida Ice & Farm Company and President and CEO of Global Endeavors, with extensive experience in executive and managerial positions in economic, financial, banking and development policies.

(2) Bernardo José Alfaro Araya, costa rican, civil engineer. His professional experience includes the positions of General Manager of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, General Superintendent of Financial Institutions of his country and Deputy General Manager of Risk and Credit of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, with extensive experience in development banking, commercial banking, investment banking and banking supervision.

(3) Celina María Padilla de O'Byrne, salvadoran lawyer. Her professional experience includes the positions of President of the Board of Directors of Banco Hipotecario de El Salvador, Legal Manager of Banking, Business and Government, and Manager of International Affairs and Special Projects of Banco Agrícola de El Salvador, with extensive experience in the financial sector.

(4) Enrique Alberto Cañas Jiménez, salvadoran, financier. His professional experience includes the positions of Executive Director for El Salvador and Head of the Financial Markets Division of the IDB and different positions at the World Bank, with extensive experience in the financial sector, consulting, investment banking and multilateral banking.

(5) Hugo Rolando Noé Pino, honduran, economist. His professional experience includes the positions of President of the Central Bank of Honduras, Secretary of Finance of his country and Executive Director for Central America of the IDB, being a professional with extensive experience in management positions in financial sector entities, multilateral entities, research and teaching.

(6) Jaime Roberto Díaz Palacios, guatemalan economist. His professional experience includes the positions of CABEI Executive Vice President, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank and Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Program-PRONACOM, with ample experience in financial development and the creation of political reforms.

As the next step in the selection process for CABEI's new Executive President, the Bank's Board of Directors will proceed to interview the proposed candidates during its October session, which will begin on monday, october 23rd. Based on this, if it deems it appropriate, a short list will be drawn up and submitted for consideration by the Board of Governors of the Institution, the body that, in accordance with the Bank's current regulations, is responsible for electing said official from among the short list selected. 

To this end, the Board of Directors of the Bank has called a meeting of the Board of Governors for november 17.
