The Director General of Customs, Benjamín Mayorga, conducted a technical visit to the La Hachadura Customs Office as part of efforts to strengthen regional integration and facilitate trade between El Salvador and Guatemala, in the context of the opening of the José Arce Bridge.
During the visit, the official toured the border post facilities along with representatives from the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP), Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT) de Guatemala and Ministerio de Economía with the aim of verifying the operation of customs processes and the coordination among the institutions involved in border operations.

According to Mayorga, the inspection confirmed that the procedures implemented at customs operate in a coordinated manner, and also allowed for an evaluation of the performance of the mechanisms established for the control and clearance of goods transiting through this important connection point between the two countries.
The head of Customs said that these types of technical visits also serve to identify opportunities for improvement that allow for optimizing processes, reducing processing times, and strengthening the efficiency of customs operations, benefiting both the productive sector and the carriers that use this border crossing.

He also emphasized that coordination with national institutions and guatemalan authorities is a key element for advancing regional trade facilitation and ensuring that operations are carried out in an agile, safe, and orderly manner.
Mayorga reiterated that the Dirección General de Aduanas remains committed to promoting modern and efficient customs management, focused on streamlining trade, strengthening connectivity between El Salvador and Guatemala, and contributing to economic development through processes that facilitate the transit of goods and promote greater regional integration.
