The Estadio Cuscatlán, El Salvador’s emblematic sports venue, has been renovated in multiple areas to offer a first class experience to fans and athletes. After more than 40 years of service, this remodeling seeks to guarantee comfort, safety and modernity in every event it hosts.
The renovation of Estadio Cuscatlán has been possible thanks to a series of significant investments, an economic effort that reflects the commitment of EDESSA and other entities involved to transform the Estadio Cuscatlán into a multifunctional and first class space.
The president of EDESSA, Néstor Castañeda, highlighted the commitment to the development of national soccer and the importance of providing modern and functional spaces. These renovations make the Estadio Cuscatlán a reference in the region, capable of hosting high-level matches as well as artistic and cultural events.
Among the improvements are the renovation of the accesses, with the construction of eight new gates and the updating of four additional gates, now adapted for emergencies. In addition, the stadium’s iconic towers were expertly painted, and 50% progress has been made in the installation of LED lights, improving the illumination for nighttime matches.
In terms of comfort, 2,000 new seats have been installed in the Platea sector, while the rest of the areas have undergone major renovations. The dressing rooms, tunnels and press rooms were also modernized, incorporating details of international standard. Ramps for people with special needs ensure greater accessibility.
The main court, known as the “sacred mantle”, underwent a complete transformation. According to Mexican specialist Raúl Barrios, a new hybrid Bermuda grass seed was planted, selected for its resistance, rapid recovery and suitability to the local climate. This process included a complete leveling of the surface, ensuring better playing conditions for athletes.
Specialized machinery was also acquired for the maintenance of the field, allowing it to be restored in record time after events such as concerts. Investment in technology and staff training has been crucial to ensure the longevity of these improvements.
Another significant advance was the modernization of the electrical system and the installation of security cameras at strategic points, providing a safer environment for attendees. In addition, a dedicated power plant was incorporated into the new LED billboards, meeting international standards.
With these improvements, the Estadio Cuscatlán reaffirms its position as the main sports venue in El Salvador, offering a worthy space for events that unite and excite the nation.
