Mastercard appoints Laura Cruz as new President for the company's North & Caribbean Division

Mastercard announced the appointment of Laura Cruz as President of the North and Caribbean Division, effective september 1, 2022, reporting, as she has until today, to Carlo Enrico, Mastercard's President for Latin America and the Caribbean.

This appointment expands Laura's current responsibilities as Mastercard's Divisional President for Mexico and Central America to include the Caribbean under her leadership.

Throughout more than a decade with Mastercard, Laura has held various positions, including Country Manager for Mexico, Senior Vice President of Loyalty Programs for Latin America and Executive Vice President of Sales for Mexico. Laura is known as one of the most relevant women leaders in Mexico and has been recognized as one of the most powerful women in business by rankings such as Forbes and Expansión. She was also awarded by the Women Economic Forum Iberoamerica, for her work focused on promoting financial inclusion.

"The newly created North and Caribbean Division will leverage the strengths and synergies of a diverse set of countries. They are world-class tourism destinations, they are countries that are implementing transformative strategies to expand financial inclusion", said Carlo Enrico, Mastercard's President for Latin America and the Caribbean.

"Laura's tenure with the company, her experience and leadership are qualities that make her ideally suited to lead this new Division".

Commenting on her appointment, Laura said, "This is an important time for Mastercard, especially in Latin America, where technology is evolving at a constant and accelerated pace. As such, I am thrilled to lead such a dynamic and diverse set of markets, which continually shows curiosity and boldness in terms of payments innovation, which is already securing industry firsts, amidst the context of this new era of the digital economy."

Marcelo Tangioni, until now President of the Caribbean Division, will assume his new position as President of Mastercard Brazil.
