In the 2020-2021 period, Citi was the bank that led the most capital markets transactions in Central America and the Caribbean, more than 80% of them coming from Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic.

On Citi's nomination as Best Investment Bank in Central America and the Caribbean, Euromoney wrote: "It would not be too much of an exaggeration to say that no other investment bank can operate in the Central America and Caribbean region as well as Citi. With its history and presence, the U.S. bank seems to have an absolute stranglehold on deal flow in the region and Citi's investment banking team, led by Caribbean and Central America cluster head Marcelo Gorrini, and has dominated in this award period".
