According to the World Bank's "Global Economic Prospects" report, the world economy is close to breaking an unfortunate record at the end of 2024, as it would be the five years with the lowest gross domestic product growth in the last three decades.

A special report prepared by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), indicates that after the 3.2% drop in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which took place in 2020, the world economy is expected to grow by 6% in 2021 and 5% in 2022.

Output will continue to remain below pre-COVID 19 levels despite a strong rebound in the United States and China.
