
The director general of Customs of El Salvador, Benjamín Mayorga, recognized the work performed by the institution’s employees during the celebration of Salvadoran Customs Officer’s Day, highlighting their contribution to the country’s economic development, trade facilitation, and the protection of national borders.
During the commemoration, the official expressed his gratitude for the commitment, integrity, and dedication to service of the staff who perform their duties at border posts, ports, airports, and administrative offices, contributing to the strengthening of customs operations throughout the country.
Mayorga noted that customs work goes beyond a professional activity, as it involves ensuring border security, facilitating trade, and supporting the country’s economic growth through the efficient management of processes related to foreign trade.

The head of Customs also highlighted the progress the institution has made in recent years, including the incorporation of new technological tools, infrastructure improvements, and staff training programs. He explained that these actions have strengthened the institution’s operational capabilities and allowed it to respond more efficiently to the needs of an increasingly dynamic international trade.
He also emphasized that the modernization of customs service’s aims to provide faster and more personalized service to users, while contributing to ensuring compliance with the necessary controls for the country’s protection.

On this commemorative day, Mayorga reiterated his appreciation for the women and men who make up the General Directorate of Customs, highlighting their daily contribution to the institution’s operations and to the development of commercial activities that connect El Salvador with international markets.
The celebration of Día del Aduanero Salvadoreño also served to underscore the role of customs personnel in facilitating trade, collecting taxes, and protecting borders functions considered fundamental for the country’s economic development and competitiveness.
