The president of the Cámara de Comercio e Industria de El Salvador (Camarasal), Leticia Escobar, highlighted that the salvadoran economy registered positive growth of 4.3% through march 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year, driven primarily by sectors such as construction, financial services, insurance, commerce, and tourism.
According to the business representative, the data from the Índice de Volumen de la Actividad Económica (IVAE) reflects a favorable performance of the national economy during the first months of the year.
Escobar pointed out that one of the sectors most driving this growth is construction, something that, she asserted, can be observed in the increase in real estate projects and buildings in different areas of the country.
“We see a great many buildings under construction”, said the president of Camarasal, who also indicated that this dynamism has also been favored by tax incentives aimed at the development of real estate projects.
She also said that current security conditions have contributed to greater confidence among domestic and foreign investors interested in developing projects in El Salvador.
“El Salvador is definitely undergoing a significant transformation, which is noticeable to everyone who lives here and is also recognized by investors”, she affirmed.
The official said that another sector experiencing significant growth is financial services and insurance, followed by commerce, transportation, and warehousing—activities that, she explained, are closely linked to the growth of tourism.
She highlighted the current increase in both domestic tourism and the arrival of foreign visitors to the country.
“We are all seeing an increase in tourism, both from our own citizens visiting our country and from the influx of foreign visitors”, she said.
Escobar also asserted that business growth is generating greater demand for human talent and formal employment in various economic sectors.
“The demand for jobs from employers remains strong and is growing”, she explained.
According to her, business owners from different parts of the country have consistently expressed the need to hire more staff to meet the growth of their operations.
In response to this situation, the Cámara de Comercio has strengthened its job placement services to support companies in posting job openings, conducting interviews, and managing the hiring process.
The president of Camarasal stated that the economic growth recorded through march reflects a positive outlook for various productive sectors of the country and increased business activity in different areas of the national economy.
