Reference fuel prices in El Salvador will remain unchanged during the two-week period from august 18 to 31, 2026, the General Directorate of Energy, Hydrocarbons, and Mines (DGEHM) announced.
This means that premium gasoline will continue to cost US$4.91 per gallon in the central region and US$4.92 in the western and eastern regions. Regular gasoline will remain at US$4.58 in the central region and US$4.59 in the western and eastern regions of the country. Diesel will maintain a reference price of US$4.59 per gallon in all three regions, with no change from the previous two-week period.
According to the DGEHM, this price stability occurs within an international context marked by factors that continue to generate uncertainty in the oil market. These include the Houthi attacks on a Saudi Arabian refinery and actions against the Russian oil industry, situations that have maintained pressure on international prices for oil and its derivatives.

Despite this scenario, the institution indicated that the actions taken in the domestic market have contributed to preserving the stability of liquid fuel prices, preventing increases for salvadoran consumers during this two-week period.
The DGEHM (reminded the public that the reference prices include current taxes, as well as the charges corresponding to the Contribución para la Estabilización de las Tarifas del Servicio Público del Transporte Colectivo de Pasajeros (COTRANS) and Fondo de Estabilización del Fomento Económico (FEFE).

As part of its market oversight efforts, the institution maintains ongoing inspections at service stations to verify the quality and quantity of fuel dispensed to consumers. These inspections aim to ensure that users receive the exact volume they pay and that the products meet the required technical specifications.
Inspectors also conduct ongoing monitoring of companies that market petroleum products. If violations of regulations are found, establishments may be sanctioned to protect consumers and ensure competitive market conditions.
