CEL and SIGET provide inputs for the proposed Law of the Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines Directorate

The President of the Comisión Ejecutiva de la Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL),Daniel Alvarez together with the President of the Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones (SIGET), Manuel Aguilar, attended the Economy Commission of the Legislative Assembly (AL), to provide inputs to the analysis of the proposed Law for the Creation of the Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines Directorate.

The President of CEL, said that the creation of the law will provide important tools to the Executive to create a comprehensive energy policy that will allow a sustainable development for the country.

The officials explained that the country has the necessary potential to generate all the electric energy consumed.

The proposed law is an initiative of the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, with the objective of creating an organization that generates the necessary competition to reduce the prices of electric energy to support the economy of salvadoran families.

"We believe it is important to order the electricity sector. We have the vision to improve this path. We need laws that really order and give benefits to the salvadoran population", said the President of SIGET, Manuel Aguilar.

To continue analyzing the proposed Law for the Creation of the Directorate of Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines, the deputies agreed to invite the Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, to the next working session to provide her input on the subject.
