Fuel prices could increase starting next monday

Written by Evelyn Alas

Fuels expert, Julio Villagrán, indicates that fuel prices could increase more than US$0.15 per gallon of premium gasoline, regular and diesel, starting next monday, february 22, 2022.

Villagrán indicated that the value of crude oil in the last few days has risen between US$93 and US$91 per barrel.

He also stated that for each gallon of super gasoline, salvadorans pay US$0.86 in taxes, US$0.85 for regular gasoline and US$0.68 for diesel.

A US media stated that in New York the Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) ended operations at US$93.66 per barrel, for a rebound of US$1.59, which means 1.7% more than in the last days.

They also stated that the quotation of the European Brent closed with an increase of 3.80%, at US$94.92, per barrel. Its advance for the week that ended was 1.78 percent.

Likewise, he added that it is not discarded that crude oil and natural gas quotations will soon reach US$100 per barrel, derived from the fact that the strong growth in demand due to the world economic reactivation is not being absorbed by the scarce supply in the market.

If you can, go to the gas station of your choice to fill up the tank of your vehicle, and save a few dollars before the next possible increases in fuel prices.
