MITUR projects US$161 million in foreign exchange earnings for Easter Week

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, said in a morning interview that they expect US$161 million in foreign currency to enter the country during the Holy Week vacation period.

She also highlighted that, in the eastern part of the country, most of the hotels are already occupied for this holiday season.

Valdez said that the Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR) is betting on domestic tourism and the arrival of salvadorans living abroad, in addition to visits from tourists from other countries, such as the United States and Canada.

She indicated that for the 13 active recreational parks has calculated an income of visitors of 194,000.

She said that the country is having more foreign exchange income because visitors are extending their stays, before they came for 7 days, now they stay between 3 and 4 weeks.

She said that this period the country will have a beach soccer championship, Beach Soccer Cup to be held from april 14 to 16 at the Costa del Sol recreational park stadium of the del Instituto Salvadoreño del Turismo (ISTU).

The official also said that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) says that El Salvador is among the countries that have recovered the most, leading the region, above countries such as Dominican Republic, Mexico.
