At the initiative of the Central Government, through the Ministries of Finance and Economy, the extension of the subsidy policy for the purchase of gas cylinders will be maintained until february 28, 2023.
This was one of the first measures adopted by the Government, since 2021, to protect the population from the escalation of prices in the international market, which was first reflected in an increase in the price of oil and its derivatives.
Because of this decision, salvadorans have purchased their milk at a stable price throughout the year. This intervention by the authorities facilitates the maintenance of household consumption and, as a consequence, the economy continues with positive variations.
The 25-pound gas cylinder will remain at US$11.13 during december with the general subsidy. The 35-pound cylinder will be US$15.50; the 20-pound cylinder will be US$8.98; and the 10-pound cylinder will be US$4.61.
Those who have completed the process to receive the targeted subsidy must subtract US$8.04 from these prices, but it will only apply to the purchase of one drum per month (in the case of households).
