
Local entrepreneurs were the protagonists of the IV Festival del Café, held this sunday, april 26 in the district of Chalatenango, where more than 50 small producers and traders took part in the event to exhibit and market their products, thus strengthening their initiatives and boosting the local economy.
During the day, a total of 53 entrepreneurs offered a varied range of products derived from coffee, as well as food and artisanal items, in a space that allowed them to visualize their work and generate opportunities for growth. Activity on the ground boosted sales, which also encouraged the exchange of experiences between producers.
The event took place in one of the most representative coffee zones of the country, where the Alotepec-Metapán mountain range crosses, on the northern fringe, recognized for its tradition in the cultivation of gold grain. In this context, salvadoran coffee continues to be positioned as one of the best valued export products at an international level.

The departmental governor, Amílcar Monge, highlighted that the festival is part of the efforts to strengthen the local economy and provide greater opportunities for producers. Asimismo, informed about an agreement with the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo to include this activity within the routes of Buses Alegres, facilitating the arrival of visitors.
Vice-governor Lendy Torres noted that these spaces are being promoted from the Office of Productivity and Employment, with the objective of promoting the department’s top coffee and directly supporting those who form part of this production chain.

The entrepreneurs themselves highlighted the positive impact of this type of initiative. Natalia Orellana, a participant in the festival, explained that these spaces allowed her to grow, train and consolidate her business, highlighting the importance of institutional support to achieve success.
In addition to the commercial offer, the festival included coffee tastings, artistic presentations, car exhibitions and recreational activities for children, becoming a family event that attracts visitors from different areas of the country.

Among the main coffee producing areas in Chalatenango are municipalities such as La Palma, San Fernando, San Francisco Morazán, Dulce Nombre de María and sectors of Las Vueltas, where high-quality coffee is grown, recognized for its quality and value in international markets.
Finally, the authorities remember that Buses Alegres continues to promote tourist destinations at a national level, facilitating the population’s access to this type of activities, which on the ground promotes tourism, but which also directly boosts salvadoran entrepreneurs.
