Although it may surprise some, the concept of the influencer is not an exclusive product of our era. Already in the twilight of the 19th century, public figures were the face of advertising campaigns for brands and products. But it is indisputable that, with the advent of the Internet and its global expansion, the influence of these characters has reached an unprecedented level.

Today, influencers exert a powerful effect on millions of people worldwide. Their role in society, spanning both the commercial and social spheres, is increasingly prominent. Many of them address highly relevant issues such as equality, sustainability and mental health, using their platforms to raise awareness and educate their followers.

To learn a little more about this profession, Samsung Newsroom Latin America has interviewed three Latin American influencers, who are part of the Samsung Lovers family. DAVID CHACÓN, bearer of a voice.

David Chacón, photographer and owner of his own marketing agency, has 18 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He does not define himself as an influencer; however, he is aware of the great responsibility that comes with having a wide reach in social networks and being a reference in specific topics, both in what he communicates and how he does it.

"In today's world, we are in the unique position of being spokespeople, and I personally believe that we have a social responsibility to the generations to come. The influence we exert today has gained considerable strength, and it is gratifying to see how the effort dedicated to each of our projects is recognized and valued, as long as we demonstrate it with conviction and authenticity".

This Costa Rican emphasizes that his work has been greatly facilitated thanks to Samsung and its mobile devices. "There are many concerts and experiences that before would have needed different equipment to achieve, now only with a smartphone is done".

Chacón invites those who want to start a career as influencers to do so with Samsung devices, which will be very useful because they have a whole ecosystem created for today's needs, not only professionally but even personally. These devices will help them improve their daily lives.

KARLA URBINA, empowerment through photography.

Karla Urbina, a Honduran photographer with eight years of experience, decided to dedicate herself fully to her passion four years ago. Through her talent and experience, Karla focuses on empowering other women through photography. She has found in digital platforms the ideal way to connect and collaborate with them, using her art as a tool for inspiration and female empowerment.

For Karla, being an influencer is more than a term to identify a person who promotes brands on her social networks. "I consider that we all somehow help or influence our circle. When we give some advice from our experiences, when we share life situations and empathize with others or simply when we recommend a good restaurant. It is a synonym of a close person you can trust".

The marketing specialist has been a Samsung ambassador in her country for three years and emphasizes that no matter what the brand is, the important thing to communicate is to do it with responsibility and sincerity, especially when recommending and thus never lose credibility.

With great enthusiasm, Urbina observes the emergence of new generations of influencers and is often consulted on the essential requirements for getting started in this field.

His key advice is to have good equipment, especially a versatile mobile device that facilitates content creation. For this, she recommends Samsung's Galaxy series. Karla prefers the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip5, which have become essential tools in her creative process. "I always rely on my Galaxy to capture the best photos and videos", she says.

HENRY URBINA, quality content.

From El Salvador, Henry Urbina is in charge of transmitting "thoughts, ideas, messages and opinions about situations and products, to try to influence other people when making a decision, whether it is a purchase, in their academic, professional or personal lives", this is how he describes his work as an influencer.

This communication professional highlights the growth that all kinds of influencers have had and with them a series of messages or videos with valuable information for anything. "Today we can find tutorials for everything, something that a few years ago was impossible, thus helping many people anywhere in the world".

For Urbina creating content with Samsung has been a huge responsibility, however, the brand's devices have become his best help. "The use of Samsung equipment is a great contribution to the generation of content, as it facilitates in terms of video, photography and audio. Samsung has given their equipment many tools that make it easier for us to make that content, since it improves light, stability, audio quality, video focus and a series of suggestions that improve what we are doing".

For emerging generations of influencers, Urbina advises creating meaningful content that enriches viewers' lives or encourages diverse perspectives and emotions. He encourages to start producing content right away, focusing on topics they are passionate about and to learn in the process. He highlights the importance of having the right device for this task, recommending Samsung models for their ability to offer the necessary tools for effective and quality content creation.
