The President of the Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (Coexport), Silvia Cuellar, highlighted the importance of promoting foreign investment and strengthening global trade. In an interview, she said that the country must remain open to new opportunities in the current context.
Cuéllar explained that production and trade today depend on global value chains. He pointed out that no country offers products that are purely made in its own territory, since inputs come from different parts of the world.

In the case of the textile industry, he exemplified that, although the labor force is salvadoran, the materials can come from different countries. This reinforces the need for a strategic vision to promote the growth of the sector.
On tariffs, he mentioned that any adjustment could influence costs, but also open new opportunities for the region. Some companies could consider El Salvador as a production destination, strengthening investment.
The President of COEXPORT emphasized that any investment captured would benefit the local economy and generate employment. She also assured that it is more likely that trade agreements will be reached rather than drastic changes in tariff policies.

Cuellar emphasized the importance of the country continuing to promote a favorable business environment, attracting investment, and consolidating its participation in international trade.
