The Ministry of Public Works (MOP), verified the initial construction works of the overpass over Redondel Utila, Santa Tecla, which is the first in execution of a total of seven to be built in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (AMSS).

The investment in construction of the work is US$5.8 million, plus a supervision amounting to US$443,000, both figures make a total of US$6.3 million dollars.

The MOP is currently working at night on the relocation of a rainwater collector, from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. This pipe relocation will take place from january 4 to january 11, 2022.

While these tasks are being carried out, the vehicular circulation of people driving from Bulevar Sur towards San Salvador has been reoriented, as they have to take the street that leads to Puerto de La Libertad and return in front of La Joya Shopping Center.

The work, according to the Minister of MOP, Romeo Rodríguez, will generate more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and other important benefits, especially for those who travel to the Puerto de La Libertad.

He said that this great work will benefit thousands of citizens who travel from San Salvador and head towards the highway to the Port or visit the beaches of La Libertad, or go to Zaragoza or San José Villanueva, Nuevo Cuscatlán, or other surrounding areas.

The area where this new overpass is being built has a daily average of 8,000 vehicles, which will benefit from a two-lane overpass that will guarantee a greater traffic flow from San Salvador to Puerto de La Libertad.

With this work, the Central Government through the MOP and FOVIAL, seek to distribute the traffic traveling north-south and vice versa, saving time and fuel.

This overpass consists of the construction of two lanes in the north-south direction of the Utila traffic circle and will connect both ends with two ramps, one uphill and one downhill, it will have four piles; two intermediate and two lateral piles.
