CABEI Board of Directors selects slate of candidates for Executive President election

After a rigorous interview process, CABEI's Board of Directors has chosen the short list of candidates for the election of the Bank's new Executive President from the list proposed by the prestigious firm Heidrick & Struggles. It will be composed of two Costa Ricans and one Guatemalan.

In compliance with the previously defined schedule, CABEI's Board of Directors, after a rigorous interview and evaluation process, has selected the short list of candidates that will be submitted to the Board of Governors of the Institution for the selection of the new Executive President.

As has been made public, the candidate selection process has been carried out by the renowned firm Heidrick & Struggles, New York office, in search of the ideal professional to fill a position of such relevance for the social and economic development of the region.

This firm submitted a list of six candidates, who were interviewed and thoroughly evaluated by the Bank's Board of Directors.

The short list selected by the Board of Directors is made up of the following professionals in alphabetical order:

Ana Guissella Sánchez Maroto, Costa Rican, industrial engineer. Her professional experience includes the positions of Regional Director of Strategy of BAC Costa Rica, Regional Director of Corporate Relations of Florida Ice & Farm Company and President and CEO of Global Endeavors, with extensive experience in executive and managerial positions in economic, financial, banking and development policy matters.

Bernardo José Alfaro Araya, Costa Rican, civil engineer. His professional experience includes the positions of General Manager of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, General Superintendent of Financial Institutions of his country and Deputy General Manager of Risk and Credit of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, with extensive experience in development banking, commercial banking, investment banking and banking supervision.

Jaime Roberto Díaz Palacios, guatemalan economist. His professional experience includes the positions of Executive Vice President of CABEI, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank and Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Program-PRONACOM, with ample experience in financial development and the creation of political reforms.

This slate is being submitted for consideration by the Board of Governors, which, in accordance with the Bank's current regulations, is responsible for electing a new Executive President. To this end, the Bank's Board of Directors has called a meeting of the Board of Governors for november 17, 2009, with the understanding that, in accordance with the same rules, the Board of Governors has the authority to request that additional candidates be presented to it should it deem it advisable to do so.
