The Ministry of Justice and Public Security of El Salvador takes a giant step forward in the modernization of its police force. With the acquisition of 9,480 Samsung devices of the latest generation, the Policía Nacional Civil (PNC) is positioned as the number 1 user of XCover7 in Latin America, marking a milestone in the region. This important investment, which includes 8,000 units of the rugged Galaxy XCover7, 1,500 units of the A16 model and 480 units of the S25, reinforces the salvadoran government’s commitment to security and efficiency in police work.

This acquisition is an extension of the agreement between the PNC and Samsung, which in 2024 supplied 5,000 XCover7 units. In 2025, 3,000 XCover7, 1,500 A16 and 480 S25 were added. Deliveries will be made during the first half of this year.
Built to military standard MIL-STD-810H, the Galaxy XCover7 devices offer exceptional shock and drop resistance up to 1.5 meters, as well as an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. These features make them ideal for the extreme working conditions faced by police officers.
“We created the Galaxy XCover7 series to provide organizations with a mobile device strong enough to withstand the rigors of the toughest trades and professions. We are excited to provide our technology to El Salvador’s Ministry of Justice, while ensuring our commitment to the success and modernization of the police system”, said Wonyoung Cha, general manager for Samsung Electronics in El Salvador.
The PNC has developed proprietary software that allows the location of police forces and instant reporting of incidents, so the acquisition of these highly resistant devices is essential to complement this tool.

In addition, the devices allow walkie-talkie type communication through the “push-to-talk” function, with a speaker volume optimized for noisy environments. Their display, designed to be used even when wearing gloves or in the rain, ensures operability in all weather conditions.
The Policía Nacional Civil of El Salvador consolidates its position as one of the most advanced police departments in the world, by implementing 100% communication through broadband transmission using Galaxy XCover7 devices.
During the meeting between authorities and Samsung executives, the company recognized the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of El Salvador as the largest user of XCover7 in Latin America. Additionally, Samsung donated to the ministry as a token of appreciation.
Ministry authorities have expressed positive comments about the experience with the products and the Samsung brand. In addition, it has been revealed that there are plans to increase the installed base of XCover7 this year, with a supply ranging between 5,000 and 10,000 additional units.

The choice of Samsung devices by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of El Salvador highlights the confidence in the robust and impregnable security of these devices. Samsung’s multi-layered security architecture, reinforced by the Knox platform, offers comprehensive protection against threats, making it the preferred choice for security agencies that demand maximum protection of their sensitive information.
