A total of 108 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) from six Central American countries will benefit from a training program in energy efficiency, green financing, and cleaner production. This initiative was launched by the Instituto Centroamericano de Administración Pública (ICAP), with the support of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany through KfW, and the European Union through the Green MSMEs II Initiative.

The MSME Capacity Building Program seeks to strengthen the productive sector in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama to face the challenges of the energy transition. Training will include three specialized seminars, access to energy diagnostics and recognition of the most outstanding proposals by country.
Companies that successfully complete the process will receive a diploma awarded by ICAP in the areas of energy efficiency, green financing, and cleaner production. This will not only boost their competitiveness, but also their ability to operate in a more sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.

During the launch event, representatives of CABEI, the European Union and ICAP reaffirmed their commitment to regional sustainability and inclusive economic development. They highlighted the importance of supporting MSMEs as key drivers of a resilient and environmentally friendly economy.
This program represents a significant step towards the green transformation of Central America’s business fabric, promoting economic growth in harmony with the environment and the demands of today’s global market.
