
The general director of Customs of El Salvador, Benjamín Mayorga, reported on the start of the second edition of the Customs Anti-Corruption Diploma, developed at the San Bartolo Customs as part of the institutional efforts to strengthen transparency in public management.
The initiative is promoted by the General Directorate of Customs of El Salvador in coordination with the UNODC, the Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador, the National Council of the Judiciary, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of El Salvador and the Ministry of Finance of El Salvador. This inter-institutional effort seeks to promote a culture of integrity and ethics in the exercise of functions related to customs control.

The diploma course includes the participation of judges, prosecutors and technical personnel from different State institutions, who will receive specialized training on issues related to the prevention and combating of corruption in the customs field. The training is aimed at strengthening capacities, improving institutional processes and reinforcing control mechanisms within the system.

According to the head of Customs, this type of initiative allows us to consolidate more modern, efficient and transparent management, aligned with international standards. Likewise, he highlighted the importance of joint work between national and international entities to comprehensively confront the challenges associated with corruption.
The development of the diploma also seeks to generate a positive impact on citizen trust, by promoting responsible practices within the public service and guaranteeing adequate management of customs processes, considered key to trade and the country’s economy.

With this second edition, the authorities reaffirm their commitment to continue strengthening institutions and promoting a culture of transparency that contributes to development and good governance in El Salvador.
