The Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Patricia Nathaly Godínez, chaired the first Investment Attraction Forum 2026 in Woodbridge, Virginia, as part of an official mission carried out in Washington D.C.. The activity was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador in coordination with Invest in El Salvador, with the aim of bringing investment opportunities to the salvadoran diaspora.
During the event, the vice minister said the key role of salvadorans abroad as strategic allies for the country’s economic development. He said that there is a growing interest on the part of the diaspora in knowing the mechanisms, laws and incentives available to invest in El Salvador, as well as the conditions that facilitate the installation of new businesses.
He explained that these spaces seek to strengthen the link between entrepreneurs, potential investors and the Salvadoran Government, promoting the exchange of experiences, knowledge and practical tools that allow investment projects to be carried out. Likewise, he said that the forum also functions as a platform for direct dialogue to listen to the needs and concerns of salvadorans abroad.

Godínez also highlighted the work of the Vice Ministry of Diaspora and Human Mobility, especially through the General Directorate of Diaspora and Cultural Promotion and the El Salvador + program, an initiative that has promoted international tours with the participation of public institutions and private companies. These actions are intended to bring services closer and generate greater opportunities for the diaspora.
The forum included the participation of strategic allies such as logistics companies, banking entities and government institutions, who provided key information on investment processes, financing and technical support. According to the vice minister, this support is essential to facilitate interested parties’ access to resources and specialized advice.

Among the topics addressed during the day, productive investment, reverse migration (aimed at salvadorans who wish to return to the country) and opportunities in different economic sectors stood out. The official emphasized that beyond information, the main objective is to generate trust and motivate participants to take the step towards investment or return.
Finally, Godínez said the importance of this type of initiatives to keep the diaspora informed and encourage their participation in national development. He said that these actions are carried out in a context of greater stability in the country, driven by the transformations promoted by President Nayib Bukele, which contributes to creating a favorable environment for investment and economic growth.
