The president of the Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (Coexport), Silvia Cuéllar, praised the launch of the Centro Logístico Internacional San Jorge, the first component of Corredor Interoceánico de Guatemala believing it can boost economic growth and strengthen Central America’s logistical connectivity.
During the event, the representative of the export sector stated that the new infrastructure will facilitate the movement of goods between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, generating greater opportunities for regional trade and the development of new logistics services.
“We see this as very positive in that it will bring greater growth, especially at the regional level”, she said.

Cuéllar explained that these types of projects not only expedite cargo transport but also promote complementary investments, such as logistics centers, transportation services, and other activities related to international trade.
She also said that El Salvador could benefit from this dynamic thanks to the growth experienced by strategic ports such as Acajutla and La Unión, which would allow for greater integration with the logistics corridors being developed in the region.
The president of Coexport indicated that the project complements other initiatives that seek to strengthen Central American infrastructure and create a more efficient network for the movement of goods.

Furthermore, she considered this new logistics alternative to be particularly relevant given the challenges facing international trade and the limitations that have at times affected transit through the Panama Canal.
“There is significant growth in logistics, and what is happening here is that they are adapting to the existing requirements. If we don’t, we will fall behind”, she said.
For Cuéllar, the Interoceanic Corridor represents an opportunity to strengthen regional competitiveness, facilitate exports, and generate greater economic dynamism in Central America.
