A delegation from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg visited the Gastro-Lab Surf City project, where they learned about the progress of an initiative focused on specialized training in gastronomy and the development of human talent to strengthen the country’s tourism industry.
The tour included the participation of the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez; the Minister of Education, Karla Trigueros; representatives from the Agencia de El Salvador para la Cooperación Internacional (ESCO), the Luxembourg Development Agency, and project authorities, who highlighted the economic and social impact of this initiative.
Gastro-Lab Surf City aims to prepare young people to enter the tourism sector’s job market. To date, more than 1,000 young people have been trained as kitchen assistants, strengthening their skills and expanding their employment opportunities in restaurants, hotels, and other businesses linked to tourism.
The regional representative of the Luxembourg Development Agency, Frank Wolff, highlighted El Salvador’s growth potential and noted that the cooperation aims to support projects capable of generating sustainable development and economic opportunities.
Minister Morena Valdez explained that El Salvador is working with Luxembourg on specialized tourism education programs, with the goal of strengthening professional training and responding to the growing demand for talent in this sector.
In addition to Gastro-Lab Surf City, the delegation visited Punta Roca, in La Libertad Costa, where construction is progressing on a high-performance surfing center, an infrastructure project that is part of the strategy to consolidate sports tourism and attract greater investment to the coastal area.
These projects are part of a commitment to boosting tourism as an economic engine through investment in infrastructure, training, and the creation of new opportunities for young salvadorans.
