Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) reminds citizens that today, thursday, august 27, is the last day to update their residential address on the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) for electoral purposes—to be eligible to vote within the country—in preparation for the 2027 Elections.
The process can be completed in person at authorized DUI Centers nationwide, and an online option is also available through the DUI.sv platform.
To make it easier for citizens on this final day, the country’s 22 DUI Centros will operate on an extended schedule. Most will remain open until 8:00 p.m., while the DUI Centers located in Galerías, Santa Ana, and San Miguel will stay open until midnight.
TSE President Roxana Soriano reiterated the call to take advantage of the remaining hours available to complete the process: “I want to remind salvadorans residing in the country that they have until august 27, 2026, to update their residential address on their DUI so they can vote closer to home”.
The TSE notes that the address registered on the DUI is a fundamental element for the territorial organization of the election and the assignment of voters to their respective polling places. Keeping this information up to date allows voters to take advantage of residential voting and brings the voting process closer to where each citizen lives.
Updating one’s address is especially important for people who have changed their residence, municipality, or department, as it ensures their information is correctly entered into the Electoral Registry and allows them to benefit from residential voting, making it easier to vote closer to home.
