The reference price of diesel will increase by US$0.10 per gallon throughout El Salvador from september 1st to 14th, 2026, according to the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM). With this increase, the reference price of diesel will be US$4.69 per gallon in all three regions of the country.
As for other fuels, premium gasoline will cost US$4.96 in the central region and US$4.97 in the western and eastern regions, following an increase of US$0.05. Regular gasoline will also increase by US$0.05, reaching US$4.63 in the central region and US$4.64 in the western and eastern regions. Diesel will be priced at US$4.69 per gallon nationwide.

Despite these external conditions, the DGEHM indicated that actions taken in the domestic market have helped mitigate some of the impact of international variations, although the new prices reflect an upward trend for all three fuels.
The reference prices announced include taxes established by law, as well as the corresponding contributions to COTRANS and FEFE. These prices serve as a guide for consumers and will be in effect for the next two weeks.
The institution also reported that it maintains inspections at service stations to guarantee both the quality and quantity of fuel delivered to consumers. These inspections aim to confirm that users receive the exact volume for which they pay.
In addition, DGEHM inspectors constantly monitor companies that market petroleum products. If they detect violations of regulations, the companies may face corresponding sanctions, with the goal of protecting consumers and promoting better service conditions.
