Consumers have the right to know the laws that allow their purchases to be successful, away from unfair commercial practices, misleading advertising, fraud and abuses.

The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC), urges buyers to know which are the cases in which they can make a claim to businesses after a purchase or payment of services.

If a buyer acquires an item that shows flaws either the same day or within the warranty period, he has the right to approach the establishment and make the change, in that case the business is obliged to reach an agreement with the consumer to change the product, either the same model or change to another one and pay the difference in price. If you do not get a satisfactory response, a complaint should be filed with the appropriate regulatory entity.

In addition, the consumer should keep any material that he/she considers misleading, such as advertisements, screenshots, e-mails, or any type of communication received from the supplier.

For example, if at the moment of seeing an advertisement it is shown that the product is of quality and at the moment of arriving at the establishment or if an order has been placed online and upon arrival you receive something very different from what you saw in networks, billboards or even in television commercials, the consumer has the right to make a complaint for misleading advertising.

Some of the recent reforms include the regulation of e-commerce, forcing suppliers to implement security and transparency measures on their platforms. In addition, clear rules have been established for the protection of personal data and companies are required to register with the Defensoría del Consumidor.
