The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, gave details of the plan during the inspections carried out in the establishments located inside the airport.
This operation, which will run from july 25 to august 7, 2023, includes the approach and provision of consumer services and verification of compliance with the main provisions of the Consumer Protection Law (LPC), as well as the technical regulations applicable to establishments that sell food and beverages.
The purpose of the Defensoría del Consumidor plan is to guarantee the effective protection of the rights of consumers in the fairgrounds and tourist areas, among other places with a high concentration of consumers, with regard to legal provisions that protect their basic rights (Arts. 4 and 8), such as preventing the sale and consumption of expired products (Art. 14 ) or lacking expiration labeling, and the dissemination of unlawful, misleading or false advertising (Art. 31), and ensuring that the prices of products and services are displayed in full view of consumers (Art. 27), and promotions and offers (Art. 30).
Likewise, the Defensoría del Consumidor will provide information services, guidance and reception of complaints, through fixed points of attention, to prevent, attend and/or restore their violated rights during the holiday period.
Within the framework of the actions to protect consumers' pockets, the president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, informed that soon will be published the survey "Who is who in the prices of air conditioners?
