The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, culminated his official visit to the Republic of Argentina with a key meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he presented the investment opportunities offered by El Salvador. Bukele, before a group of Argentine businessmen, highlighted El Salvador’s potential as a “hub” for the Central American region, emphasizing its strategic location for projects at a regional level.
“We are a small but interesting country”, Bukele said during the meeting, highlighting the geographical and commercial advantages of his nation. According to the president, Central America, as a region, is presented as an attractive territory for foreign investment, a message that seeks to generate interest in Argentine capital.
The President also referred to the security measures implemented in El Salvador, emphasizing the need to incarcerate dangerous criminals to guarantee public security. “We don’t imprison them to punish them, but to get them off the streets”, explained Bukele, echoing his tough-on-crime policy.
Bukele’s agenda also included a series of meetings with key figures in Argentine politics. Following his meeting with the President of the Senate, Victoria Villarruel, the Salvadoran president held meetings with the head of the Chamber of Deputies and the minister of the Supreme Court of Justice. President Nayib Bukele proceeded to sign the book of honor of the Chamber of Deputies, in which he signed the book of honor of personalities of high political importance.
During his speech, Bukele surprised by highlighting El Salvador’s economic growth, despite the expected cost of the fight against crime. “It was estimated that the economic impact would be 10% of GDP, but the economy grew by 3.5%,” assured the president, underlining that stability and security have been key to this unexpected advance.
Bukele’s visit concludes with expectations of greater cooperation and economic exchange between both countries, seeking to strengthen commercial ties and open new opportunities for Argentine investments in salvadoran territory.
