On monday, the Government of El Salvador inaugurated the International Flight Inspection Symposium 2026 (IFIS), an event that brings together international leaders and experts from the aviation industry and will take place in the country through may 8. Hosting this event strengthens El Salvador’s position as a strategic hub for dialogue, cooperation, and technical exchange in the field of civil aviation.
The opening ceremony was attended by the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, and the president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker, who highlighted the importance of hosting this type of international event to promote the development of the aviation sector and attract new opportunities for the country.

The symposium brings together flight inspection specialists, aviation authorities, and representatives of international organizations to address key issues such as technological advancements, safety standards, and the major challenges facing the global aviation industry. This exchange of knowledge helps strengthen the technical capabilities of participating countries and promotes best practices within the industry.
The director of the Autoridad de Aviación Civil de El Salvador, Homero Morales, noted that hosting IFIS represents a strategic opportunity to continue developing the national aviation sector. He emphasized that such events facilitate connections with key industry stakeholders and help position the country as a reliable partner within international civil aviation.

Morales also emphasized that aviation is a system that relies on coordinated efforts among authorities, service providers, international organizations, and the private sector, which makes participation in specialized events like this one essential.
Anliker noted that El Salvador has one of the best airport infrastructures in the region and that millions of dollars are being invested to expand the country’s airport network. These efforts, he said, aim to strengthen air connectivity, attract more airlines, and establish the country as a competitive international hub.

The event also reflects the government’s vision, which recognizes civil aviation as a strategic pillar for economic development, connectivity, and international visibility. In line with this vision, government agencies continue to work to ensure that the sector’s growth remains grounded in robust, safe, and sustainable standards.
With the hosting of IFIS 2026, El Salvador is making progress toward its goal of strengthening its aviation industry and positioning itself as a regional leader in aviation, promoting international cooperation and the exchange of specialized knowledge.
