El Salvador continues to consolidate its international cooperation in the health sector with the arrival of foreign specialists who will not only provide medical care but also contribute to the training of local professionals through a specialization program.
The salvadoran ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, reported that international doctors, especially gynecologists, have carried out five medical missions in the country, during which a total of 81 surgeries have been performed on salvadoran women.
Medical care and knowledge transfer
These procedures have been performed at hospitals such as the Hospital Nacional San Rafael Hospital and the Hospital Nacional Saldaña, where the specialists have worked alongside salvadoran medical personnel.
As part of strengthening this alliance, the implementation of a one-year fellowship training program was announced. International doctors will participate in this program along with specialist Payam Kashi and local healthcare professionals.
The program will be developed in collaboration with Anna Health Global, an organization that has promoted these medical missions in El Salvador.
A model of two-way cooperation

As the ambassador explained, this initiative not only expands access to specialized procedures for the population but also fosters an exchange of knowledge and experiences between international and salvadoran physicians.
This approach aims to ensure that the country not only receives medical care but also strengthens its internal capacities through the ongoing training of its healthcare personnel.
International recognition and projection
During a recent event, Mayorga received recognition for her work in promoting these types of partnerships, highlighting the importance of continuing to create opportunities for more specialists to visit the country.
The official emphasized that El Salvador maintains an open-door policy for healthcare professionals from around the world, with the goal of improving medical care and creating learning opportunities.
Boosting public health

These actions are part of a broader strategy promoted by the government of President Nayib Bukele, aimed at strengthening the health system through international cooperation, innovation, and human resource development.
According to authorities, the expectation is that these types of initiatives will continue to grow, allowing for the arrival of new medical missions and expanding access to specialized services for the salvadoran population.
Together, the incorporation of international specialists and the development of training programs represent an important step in modernizing the country’s health system and improving the quality of care for patients.
