On the eve of the vote to choose the city that will host Expo 2030, Samsung Electronics Latin America confirmed its support for the candidacy of Busan, South Korea, at an event that brought together company executives in the Dominican Republic.

"As a global leader in technology, Samsung supports Busan's bid to host Expo 2030. Korea's history of transformation through education is a source of inspiration for the company. We are working on initiatives to support future generations in this pillar. In addition, we believe Busan has everything it needs to host the Expo: the city has an excellent transportation, tourism and industrial infrastructure based on sustainable development. Busan is ready and its bid is an opportunity to share South Korea's successful journey with other countries and cultures", said HS Jo, President of Samsung Latin America.

Samsung invests in education through its global corporate citizenship programs. In Latin America, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) is based on the STEM methodology to encourage young minds throughout the region to create projects aimed at solving problems in their communities. In 2023, the program will be ten years old in the region with more than 311,000 students and 41,000 teachers from 22,000 public schools benefiting. Solve for Tomorrow is currently offered in 20 countries in Latin America.

The Samsung Innovation Campus offers courses on information and communication technologies (ICT), such as programming, coding and AI, among others, with the aim of helping young people seek better job opportunities.

"Samsung believes that by empowering future generations through education, a real impact on society can be generated. This is made clear through our global corporate citizenship vision 'Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People.' These young people will be the agents of change and will be able to contribute to a better future for all", said Helvio Kanamaru, director of ESG and Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Latin America.

In addition to education, Samsung and South Korea are icons in technological research and development. In this scenario, Samsung's support for Busan demonstrates the power of innovation and education as drivers of progress, not only for South Korea, but for the entire world. By supporting Busan Expo 2030, Samsung reaffirms its role as an agent of global transformation, inviting the international community to come together in a place where technology and knowledge are the keys to a more sustainable future.

The host city of Expo 2030 will be chosen by the General Assembly of the International Union of Exhibitions (BIE), which brings together member countries, on November 28, in Paris, France.
