As part of its commitment to sustainability and the promotion of electric mobility, BAC announces the opening of two new chargers for electric vehicles in its banking agencies.

This initiative is part of one of its objectives to be the bank that drives a circular Central America and promotes sustainable mobility.

The opening of the new electric vehicle chargers is another step in BAC's "Net Positive" strategy, which seeks to generate a positive environmental impact in the country. These new chargers are part of the BAC Electric Route, a flagship project launched in 2022 that connects Guatemala to Panama with a free network of electric chargers located in key agencies in each country in the region.

In the same year of the project's launch, the first chargers were installed in El Salvador, located in two of its branches: Zona Rosa and Santa Ana. Currently, the new charging stations are in the 25 Avenida Norte branch in San Salvador and in the San Miguel Centro branch. These actions implemented by the institution encourage people to reduce the use of virgin materials, minimize waste generation, use clean energy, promote sustainable mobility and other positive actions.

"At BAC, we are committed to the transformation of banking towards a model that not only seeks economic success, but also generates a positive impact on society and the environment. By enabling these new chargers for electric vehicles, we promote the adoption of this type of transportation that is friendlier to our planet and allows us to add significant steps to become a "Net Positive" bank, and thus promote a more sustainable and prosperous Central America for all", said Martha Bolaños, director of Marketing and Sustainability.

The locations of the electric chargers are in commercial areas with business tourism and are in different regions of each country. Currently, BAC has more than 30 chargers throughout the region.

In addition to the BAC Electric Route, the bank offers a variety of products and services designed to positively impact the environment. These include:

  • BIO Card: the card of natural origin, made from non-edible corn (PLA), which at the end of its useful life will be composted under special conditions, that is, it will safely return to nature.
  • Crédito Verde Positivo: to finance energy efficiency projects, energy generation from renewable sources, as well as environmental projects focused on reducing or offsetting environmental impact.
  • Auto Híbrido: aims to provide its customers with a credit option with differentiated conditions to promote sustainable mobility.
  • Compass: a means of payment for parking lots that allows for expeditious entry without the need for contact, tickets, long lines to pay electronically without using cash, which contributes to the environment, eliminating the use of paper tickets.
  • Digital Voucher: a digital and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional paper vouchers.
