AES trains ITCA-FEPADE instructors in reading energy meters

Written by Evelyn Alas

AES El Salvador trained nine technicians from the Escuela Especializada en Ingeniería (ITCA-FEPADE). in the proper reading of energy meters, electrical load censuses, and detection of illegal connections. This strategic alliance will make it possible to replicate this knowledge to salvadoran electricians and train qualified labor.

Through the CET, AES trains its collaborators in specialized topics for its operation, and as part of its commitment to work together with the public and private sectors, it also shares its knowledge in urban arboriculture, electrical installations, and energy efficiency with other institutions.

Women electricians will benefit from new knowledge.

Starting this year, AES El Salvador, through its AES Mujer program, together with ITCA-FEPADE, will incorporate a new module on energy meter reading in the Fourth Category Residential Electrical Installation courses for women.

With these new tools and knowledge, women trained as electricians will have greater job opportunities in the electrical sector, and consequently will boost their inclusive economic development.

Since 2016, more than 500 salvadoran women have been certified as electricians through courses organized at the initiative of AES and taught by qualified ITCA-FEPADE technicians.

During 2022, AES Mujer is developing six courses on electrical installations that will impact more than 120 salvadoran women, providing them with skills for the proper installation of a residential electrical system and the correct reading of energy meters.

In this way, AES coordinates efforts with other academic institutions in order to support the community and continue transforming the salvadoran electricity sector and accelerating the future of energy in the country.
