In celebration of International Book Day, McDonald’s announced the launch of its 2026 Children’s Story Contest, an initiative that invites Salvadoran children to unleash their imaginations and become creators of stories with a purpose.
Under the theme “I Love Nature”, this year’s contest invites boys and girls to create original stories inspired by nature and environmental stewardship, reflecting how we can protect the planet.
This contest is part of the “Small Actions, Big Changes” platform, through which McDonald’s promotes initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of new generations and foster a more sustainable future.
The contest is open to children between the ages of 7 and 12, who can participate by writing an original story on the official form available at all McDonald’s restaurants in the country or by downloading it from the website: https://certamen.mcdonalds.com.sv/
Stories must be deposited in the “Authors’ Box” located in the restaurants before may 17, 2026.
“At McDonald’s, we believe in the power of imagination and reading as tools to inspire new generations. With this contest, we seek not only to foster creativity but also to strengthen values that contribute to a better future for everyone”, commented Orquídea Cáceres, Marketing manager of McDonald’s El Salvador.
In this edition, eight children will be awarded prizes, which include:
• A special celebration for 30 people at their favorite McDonald’s restaurant.
• Publication of their story in a printed book alongside the regional winners.
• Additional prizes thanks to strategic partners.
Furthermore, as part of the contest’s evolution, this year sponsors are joining the competition, enriching the experience with special prizes and new activities, with the goal of increasing participation from Salvadoran families. Among the sponsoring brands are Juguetón, Facela, and Farmacia San Nicolás.
The awards ceremony will be held on june 27, 2026, at a special event that will bring together the winners, their families, partners, and media representatives.
With over a decade of history, the Children’s Story Contest has established itself as one of McDonald’s most representative initiatives, reflecting its commitment to promoting actions that generate a positive impact on the community and contribute to the holistic development of children through creativity, education, and imagination.
McDonald’s invites salvadorans to follow them on social media to learn about future projects, activities, and promotions. On Instagram and Twitter, find them as McElSalvador, and on Facebook as McDonald’s El Salvador.
