"From this day on, the Central American region takes a historic step in the integration process, adopting systems and making them automated, digitizing processes and facilitating trade at the regional level", said the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, during the launching.
Minister Hayem highlighted that the PDCC has managed to unify the processes in 20 institutions in the region. In addition, the platform allows the transmission of phytosanitary certificates digitally, replacing the certificates that are currently presented on paper; also, this tool allows the transmission of migratory information to facilitate the passage of carriers of goods across borders.
According to the official, the creation of this digital tool was supported by the European Union, which provided financial support of $9 million for its development.
The head of the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador also highlighted that the PDCC will allow the construction of a database of reliable economic operators, which will contribute to speed up the clearance of goods.
