The Mesa Nacional de Panificadores Artesanales, affirms that due to the price increases in flour prices will affect the cost and size of French bread.

More than 120 bakeries have had to stop their work and the rest of the businesses of the same are in the tightrope because only in the month of june they have suffered two increases in the value of flour between US$2.00 and US$1.50.

They say that in less than a year the quintal has increased more than US$10 so now it costs US$24.75 and butter has increased 100%, before 50 pounds cost US$25 and now it costs US$58. The sector has reported that it will take more drastic measures and increase the price of bread.

According to the Facebook account of the Mesa de Panificadores they reported that, due to the new price increase by the mills in the flour, several bakeries in the northern zone have decided to eliminate the bread from the small one.

They added that they will only be producing 4 medium loaves for US$0.25 and 3 loaves for US$0.30. This agreement taken will be for the benefit of saving our bakeries and the livelihood of our families, let's support and join the cause.

In addition, they call on the corresponding authorities to take measures so that this sector is not affected any further.
