Consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased to 14.19% as of july 2022

According to the Dirección General de Estadísticas y Censos (DIGESTYC), the consumer price index as of july 2022 was 124.99, registering a monthly variation of 0.42%, being lower with respect to june of this year.

The food and non-alcoholic beverages division reports the main increase in the point-to-point consumer price index, reaching 14.19% in relation to july 2021.

The behavior of the IPC with respect to the same period of this year, explains that it is mainly given by the increases of 1.1% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco; 0.91% in miscellaneous goods and services with which the accumulated inflation for july 2022 is 4.98%, being a higher variation than the one registered in the same month of 2021 of 3.71%.

In july 2021, the IPC registered a positive behavior of 0.73%, motivated on that date by the increase in housing, water, electricity, gas, fuels, furniture, household items and ordinary household maintenance.

The monthly accumulated behavior of the IPC for 2021 and 2022, the DIGESTYC, observed an increase of 1.27 percentage points this year, motivated by a higher rate of variation in prices in general, which contributes to maintain a level of inflation, relatively higher than that recorded in july last year.

The IPC is the product resulting from a statistical research of a strategic nature, which allows measuring the average percentage variation of retail prices of a set of goods and services of final consumption demanded by consumers.
