Defensoría del Consumidor has recovered US$73 million since 2019 in favor of 390,000 consumers

The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC), has recovered more than US$73 million in favor of 390,000 consumers and maintains the commitment acquired since 2019, to protect the welfare of the population in different edges such as security and family economy.

The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar affirmed that the institution has attended more than 417,000 consumers, through 72 nationwide attention mechanisms, both physical and electronic.

According to the official, amounts have been recovered in sectors such as furniture with more than US$25 million; where the issue of property titles that have not been delivered stands out, the financial sector with more than US$8 million, and household appliances with US$10 million.

The Defensoría del Consumidor has implemented a series of programs such as Aquí se respeta al consumidor, Manuals of Good Practices and the Website Guarantee Seal, in which more than 500 businesses participate, said Salazar, as part of the work carried out throughout these 4 years of management, enforcing the rights of consumers.

Salazar affirmed that they will continue executing more protection mechanisms in favor of consumers.
