The Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR), along with a delegation of 14 salvadoran businessmen are starting today a business meeting with panamanian businessmen, which is led by the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira.

El Salvador continues to advance steadily in the reactivation of tourism in an orderly and safe manner. This time, Panama becomes the target market to attract tourists, as well as other markets to strengthen the multidestination.

The organization of biosafety events in the country and obtaining the Safe Travel seal are just some of the elements that allow the country to stand out in international promotion.

The president of the Cámara Salvadoreña de Turismo (CASATUR), Carlos Umaña, as well as the heads of the Asociación Salvadoreña de Hoteles, la Asociación de Turoperadores y el Comité de Turismo de la Cámara de Comercio e Industria de El Salvador are also participating in the trade mission.

"We are working with the private sector to reactivate tourism and continue stimulating the economic recovery of the sector. Panama is an important niche because it attracts many tourists from around the world, which we want to connect with El Salvador taking advantage of the good positioning that the country has achieved", said the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.

During the meeting, the authorities presented the Surf City El Salvador strategy, which seeks to position the country through its differentiating value: the waves.

Likewise, an agreement was signed between the Ministerio de Turismo, Corporación Salvadoreña de Turismo and Autoridad de Turismo de Panamá, which seeks to promote cooperation, exchange of experience in tourism promotion and marketing between both countries. Also, successful strategies will be shared to attract investments, as well as for the development of tourism infrastructure and sustainability of the industry.

El Salvador has demonstrated that it is making steady progress in its recovery. As of July 2021, it reports $914.43 million in tourism revenues and 639,998 visitors, marking a steady recovery in tourism.
