IDB supports employability of migrants in El Salvador

The Directorate of Human Mobility and Attention to Migrants, together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) held the graduation of the digital training process for young migrant returnees of the project "REINTEGRATECH for employability".

This initiative benefited a group of young people from Santa Ana, San Salvador, and La Libertad, who gained knowledge on topics related to programming and data management. This training process was developed in three and a half months.

During the course, the participants received financial support for food and travel expenses, which allowed them to complete their educational process without having any impediment to attend their classes.

In her speech, the Director of Human Mobility and Attention to Migrant People, Rosa Girón, said that specific kits were delivered to develop the skills learned by each of the young people and will seek to make a link with potential employers.

In this line, she highlighted that in this activity participated several companies of the ICT 'S sector, potential employers of the young people trained by the REINTEGRATECH project, which aims to increase the skills of the returned migrant population, strengthen their profile and increase the chances of success in the search for employment and self-employment.

"As a country, we believe in transformation, that is why the REINTEGRATECH project is part of our Transformed Lives Program, because we know that for transformation we must innovate and that is part of our vision", said the official.

The IDB country representative, Margarita Libby Hernández, reiterated the commitment to continue working on these development initiatives.

"You are the face of the work we do every day at the bank, we work every day for development, we work for you, because we believe in El Salvador, so that migration is an option and not an obligation". The representative of ITCA-FEPADE, César Interiano, expressed that the tools that the young people obtained during the course are in function of the challenges that the country has in terms of the development of communication and connectivity.

"I am grateful for having been part of this process, I feel it is a very strong opportunity for us to continue training, we learned various programming languages and how to create websites. It is good that the government supports us as young people to have a good job profile", said Gustavo Contreras, a beneficiary of the Reintegratech project.
