The Carlos Slim Health Awards were created to recognize exceptional researchers and institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean that, through their work and dedication in various areas of health, have had a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people.
Over the course of 17 years, 1,478 nominations have been received from 23 countries. Thirty-seven institutions and researchers from 12 countries in the region have been awarded US$100,000 each.
For the present cycle, the call for entries is open in the following categories:
Exceptional Institution Award in Health
This category recognizes those public and private non-profit institutions whose programs, whether academic or field work, contribute with innovative and efficient alternatives in public health for the population of the region. This may be in the areas of care, prevention, research and/or training of human resources.
Health Award for Lifetime Achievement in Research
This category recognizes individuals dedicated to health research, regardless of their professional background, whose work has led to the generation of innovative solutions to the main public health challenges in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

Nominations will be received from august 1 to november 30, 2024 at 11:59 p.m., at the same site.
These nominations will be evaluated by an independent international jury, made up of leaders in the field of health, members of academic institutions, research centers, international organizations and winners of previous editions of the Award.
The results will be announced no later than june 2025 on the website www.premiosensalud.org
Award winners will be notified by telephone or electronically.
