In september 2024, the Banco Central de Reserva of El Salvador reported that the price inflation index decreased by 0.54 points, reaching 130.42 points, compared to 130.96 registered in august. Despite this monthly reduction, the annual inflation growth rate is 0.58%, reflecting stability in the prices of most products.
Among the products that presented a significant drop were food and non-alcoholic beverages, whose index decreased from 157.78 in August to 154.90 in september. This drop was one of the main factors contributing to the overall decline in the price index.
Some products showed increases. Alcoholic beverages saw an increase in their index from 171.18 to 172.42, while the transportation sector registered a slight rise from 114.53 to 115.22. These increases, although moderate, partially balanced the decline in other areas.
Sectors such as education, apparel, furniture, communications and restaurants did not show significant changes during the month. This explains why, despite fluctuations in some items, the monthly reduction in the overall price index was minimal.
