The Finance Committee of the Legislative Assembly received the Minister of Culture, Raúl Castillo Rosales, who presented the projects that will be executed in 2025 with an assigned budget of US$27,549,131. According to the minister, the funds will allow for continued protection of cultural heritage, promoting the arts and ensuring transparent and inclusive management.
Among the major projects mentioned is the inauguration of the building of the General Archive of the Nation, which for the first time will have an adequate space for the conservation of historical documents. Likewise, an online catalog and external loans will be implemented at the Biblioteca Nacional de El Salvador (BINAES), along with the digitalization of old collections and the creation of the national library system.
In terms of infrastructure, the Ministry will invest in 61 projects, including improvements to the Museo Nacional de Antropología Dr. David J. Guzmán and the construction of a warehouse at the Tomayate River paleontological site. In addition, US$335,600 will be allocated to public investment projects.
The Minister said that the eradication of the gang phenomenon has allowed salvadorans to once again enjoy cultural activities. “Today, people can attend art and culture presentations without fear”, he said.
In the artistic field, local creation will be strengthened through training programs, art festivals, traveling galleries, and tours of the national ballet. In addition, Editorial El Salvador will promote participation in international book fairs and establish alliances with libraries in other countries.
With these projects, the Ministry of Culture seeks to consolidate its institutional transformation, promoting inclusion and ensuring that the country’s cultural heritage is accessible to the entire population.
