Banco CUSCATLAN and SISA Seguros are sponsoring the only three salvadoran surfers who will participate in the World Surfing Championship to win a place in the Olympics.

Banco CUSCATLAN and SISA Seguros signed a sponsorship contract with the only three salvadoran surfers who will compete in the 2021 ISA World Surfing Games, as part of their commitment to the fight for female empowerment and the equal participation of women in sports and in all social spheres.

Evelyn Centeno, Vanessa Cortez and Brenda Alvarez are the three athletes who received US$2,000 each for their participation in the World Surfing Games: US$1,000 from Banco CUSCATLAN and US$1,000 from SISA Seguros. In addition, as of today they have a Cuenta Futuro and debit card from Banco CUSCATLAN, in order to encourage them and help them cover all their sports requirements. The signing of the delivery of the savings accounts also took place today.

"We are proud to give this financial support for the development of our athletes, because we believe in 'girl power' and it is part of our responsibility, both corporate and individual, to fight for the equal participation of women in sports and that all girls can have a reference. What we are looking for is to encourage these young women to give the best of themselves in this World Cup -which we know they will-, and thus achieve greater female participation in the Olympics", said Ximena Robin, Public Relations manager of Banco CUSCATLAN.

The World Surfing Championship, which will be held at the mouth of El Tunco beach and El Sunzal beach between may 29 and june 6, is the road to the qualification ticket for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, to be held in july 2021. The athletes who qualify for the Olympic Games will receive an extra US$3,000 each in their savings account from Banco CUSCATLAN in recognition of their excellence as "OrgulloCUSCATLAN".

"All my admiration for these girls who we know will strive to to excel. It is an honor to support them with this product of Banco CUSCATLAN, which is our Cuenta Futuro, with an amount that they can use to achieve their goals," said Eduardo Atilio Guzman, Deputy Product Manager of Banco CUSCATLAN.

The World Surfing Games to be held in La Bocana and El Sunzal are expected to receive athletes from more than 50 countries around the world to compete for the last 12 Olympic spots available.

"It is really satisfying when two companies come together to do good things like this: to support our salvadoran athletes who are already a source of pride for their effort and dedication to do well in this championship. As SISA, we hope to continue making this type of contributions together with Banco CUSCATLAN, as long as it is for the benefit of salvadorans" , added Ciro Callejas, Marketing and Communications coordinator at SISA SEGUROS.

This event is the last in the Surfing Qualification System for Tokyo 2020 and the final spots for the top ranked athletes will be awarded as follows: 7 spots for women, and 5 for men.

"We are grateful for this support to Banco CUSCATLAN because it is definitely an incentive for us, especially considering some of the shortages that the salvadoran sport suffers. I am sure we will give our best, as we have done so far training from early hours monday through Friday", said Evelyn Centeno, one of the athletes.
