The Defensoría del Consumidor (CD) has been monitoring the different areas to verify that suppliers respect consumers' rights.

Ricardo Salazar, head of the CD has announced that due to non-compliance of contracts and offers, a little more than US$220,000 has been recovered in favor of 58 consumers. The financial sector, real estate, tourism and commercial houses are other areas in which recoveries have been carried out during this festive season of december.

The head of the CD explained that this Christmas season, 898 consumers have been reimbursed an amount exceeding US$548,000. Some of the items attended were: charges, fees and commissions where 701 consumers have benefited with US$222,000.

The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, explained in an interview that they have attended more than 9 thousand consumers during this Christmas season. In addition, they have more than 60 points of attention that are operating in squares, parks and shopping malls, nationwide.

The authorities urge the population to file their complaints to 910 or WhatsApp 7844-1482, to carry out the corresponding investigations and proceed with the necessary interventions, in order to combat abusive practices to the detriment of the population.
