There are 12 new units in the eastern part of the country, 25% of which will have universal access for people with disabilities.
The minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, indicated that they are "working as a team on the renewal of other fleets. We know that this change is necessary, there are more than 10 thousand units circulating throughout the country".
Nelson Reyes, Vice Minister of Transportation, also commented that before the process to renew the fleet could take up to seven months, but today it has been reduced to about one week.
The General Director of Land Transportation, Ismael Flores, said that fleet renewal is crucial, and that it is not a short-term investment, but a "measure to guarantee the competitiveness of public transportation".
To make these changes, the authorities are working with different international institutions to carry them out.
