Bitcoin Bankathon to award US$150,000 to programmers who present innovative solutions

The minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, the Undersecretary of Innovation Fabrizio Mena and the President of Banco Hipotecario de El Salvador (BH), Celina Padilla, announced the launch of the BH Bitcoin Bankathon, as part of the Bitcoin Week.

The prize will be US$150 thousand, divided into categories, such as best overall product, best use of off-chain data, most visionary concept, among others. The Bankathon will be held from november 19 to december 8, 2021 in two modalities, virtual and on-site.

According to the President of BH, Celina Padilla, there are 5 challenges that Banco Hipotecario presents, for example, construction of the next neobank, redesign of remittances, fight against climate change, empowerment of women and empowerment of traders.

This will be a meeting where the best cryptocurrency project proposals will be awarded, evaluated by our sponsors, such as API3 and Qredo, and the regulatory bodies of the national financial system.

The initiative seeks to promote programmers, developers from the country and around the world, who present proposals for innovative solutions, through different products and services.

The Secretary of Innovation, Fabrizio Mena, said that this first Bankathon they are launching will promote financial innovation used to foster new businesses, through internal corporate relationships.
